Trump Mocks Beto’s Hand Movements After Entering 2020 Race: ‘Is He Crazy Or Is That Just The Way He Acts’
President Trump on Thursday mocked Beto O’Rourke’s “crazy” hand movements hours after the former Texas congressman released a video announcing his bid for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
“I think he’s got a lot of hand movement,” Trump told reporters when asked in the Oval Office about O’Rourke entering the 2020 race.
Trump, who is known to be expressive with his hands during campaign rallies and other events, said: “I’ve never seen so much hand movement. I said, ‘Is he crazy or is that just the way he acts?’”
Trump was referencing a video of O’Rourke campaigning in Iowa where the candidate waved and shook his hands as he spoke.
“I’ve actually never seen anything quite like it,” Trump said. “Study it. I’m sure you’ll agree.”

Only this country can do that, and only if we build a movement that includes all of us. Say you're in: https://t.co/EKLdkVET2u pic.twitter.com/lainXyvG2n

O’Rourke served three terms in Congress before an unsuccessful bid to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in 2018.
Republican attorney and husband to White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, George Conway, called for a “serious inquiry” into President Trump’s mental state in a lengthytweetstorm Wednesday night.
“Whether or not impeachment is in order, a serious inquiry needs to be made about this man’s condition of mind,” Conway wrote, labeling Trump as a “Summa Cum Liar.”
“Have we ever seen this degree of brazen, pathological mendacity in American public life?” Conway asked.
