Scarborough: Leaked Schedules Show Trump Watches TV ‘Like An Old Man That Is In A Retirement Home’

MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough compared President Trump to a retiree who spends all day watching television followinganother White House leak of the president’s private schedules Sunday showing Trump spent 50 percent of his time from Monday to Thursday last week in “Executive Time,” where he is either watching television, reading newspapers or making phone calls to lawmakers, friends, and advisers.

The four new schedules leaked to Axios came after the White House launched an internal search to find the leaker who last week provided the media outlet with the past three months of Trump’s private schedules showing about 60 percent was non-structured time “Executive time.”

Scarborough on Monday called Trump’s schedule “an absolute, absolute joke.”

“We’ve seen one account after another, one person working for Trump after another, saying he often just hunkers down upstairs in the personal quarters,” Scarborough said. “He spends the majority of his time watching cable news and tweeting, yelling, staring at TV sets like an old man that is in a retirement home instead of a president of the United States who is supposed to be working 24 hours a day.”

“Playtime!” Co-host Mika Brzezinski added.

Scarborough then suggested the president was lazier than retirees.

“I’m sure most older men in retirement homes live far more active lives than does Donald Trump,” Scarborough said. “But for these people that come out and suggest, and for Donald Trump to suggest he’s worked harder than most any president before him is just an absolute joke.”

Trump blasted the leak on Twitter this weekend.

“The media was able to get my work schedule, something very easy to do, but it should have been reported as a positive, not negative,” the president tweeted. “When the term Executive Time is used, I am generally working, not relaxing. In fact, I probably work more hours than almost any past President…..”

Trump continued in another tweet: “The fact is, when I took over as President, our Country was a mess. Depleted Military, Endless Wars, a potential War with North Korea, V.A., High Taxes & too many Regulations, Border, Immigration & HealthCare problems, & much more. I had no choice but to work very long hours!”

The president seemed to respond to Scarborough’s criticisms on Monday just minutes after the segment ended.

“No president ever worked harder than me (cleaning up the mess I inherited)!” Trump tweeted.
